Work Permit for Vulnerable Workers

Designed for people in vulnerable situations at work, such as those who have been victims of labor abuse or exploitative working conditions.

The Open Work Permit for Vulnerable Workers allows you to work for any employer in Canada while you find a new employer and apply for a new work permit.

Who can apply for this work permit? 🤔

You can apply if: 

  • You are inside Canada. 🇨🇦 
  • You have a valid, closed work permit, meaning one specific to one employer.  📄 
  • You are being abused or at risk of being abused in connection with your work in Canada.  

Abuse can be physical, sexual, financial, or mental. Examples include physical harm, unsafe working conditions, unwanted sexual comments, theft, nonpayment, etc. 

To apply for this permit, documentation proving the situation must be presented.
