What is a Visitor Record and when it is necessary to request it? 🤔
A Visitor Record It is a document that a Border Security Officer (CBSA) can issue to you to extend or restrict your stay in Canada, or that an Immigration Officer (IRCC) can issue if they approve your application to extend your stay or restore your status.
- You need to request a Visitor Record when:
- You arrive for the first time at a Canadian port of entry and know you want to stay for more than 6 months; or
- You're in Canada and you decide you want to stay longer.
Features of Visitor Record 📋
- It is a separate document (it is not placed in the passport). 📄
- Include an expiration date for your stay in Canada (the date you must leave Canada). 📆
- It does not guarantee that you can leave and re-enter Canada (for that you may need a valid entry document, such as a visitor visa or an eTA). ⚠️
You must apply for a Visitor Record before your current status expires.
