Study Permit

The Study Permit is the document that allows foreigners to study at Designated Learning Institutions (DLI), that accept international students.

DLIs are institutions approved by the Government of Canada to receive international students.

Most international students need a Study Permit if their program lasts more than 6 months.

Important โš ๏ธ

A Study Permit is not a visa, which means that it does not allow travel to Canada. To enter the country, a Visitor Visa or an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) is required. However, if a Study Permit is applied for from outside Canada, approval of the Study Permit will also include approval of a Visitor Visa.
