The PGWP offers students who graduate from Designated Learning Institutions in Canada (DLIs) the possibility of obtaining an open work permit. This allows them to gain Canadian work experience, which is highly valuable not only at a professional level, but also for permanent residence programs in Canada.
Eligibility Requirements ๐
- The study program must be of a minimum duration of 8 months, and eligible for the PGWP (not all study programs are eligible for PGWP). You can review that information here.
- Have maintained full-time student status in Canada during each academic period of the study program.
- Have an academic record and an official letter from the school (DLI) confirming completion of the study program.
- Apply for the PGWP within 180 days of graduation.
- The study permit must have been valid at some point during those 180 days after you graduated.
Duration of PGWP
The length of your PGWP will depend on the level and length of your study program, as well as the expiration date of your passport.
Important
- Only one PGWP can be received once in a lifetime.
- There are certain exceptions to the eligibility requirements for the PGWP. If you have questions about your eligibility, we recommend that you contact us so that a professional can help you determine if you are eligible or what path to follow to become eligible.
