The Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) is an entry requirement for foreign nationals exempt from a visitor visa who are travelling to Canada by air. The eTA is connected to your passport. ๐
๐ก Please note: An eTA does not guarantee your entry into Canada; a border officer will determine if you are eligible to enter the country.
Who needs an eTA?
- Visa-exempt travelers: If you are a citizen of a visa-exempt country, you need an eTA to fly to or transit through Canada. If you are arriving by land or sea, don't worry! You don't need an eTA.
๐ Check the list of visa-exempt countries here.
- Travelers from countries that require a visa but may be eligible for an eTA: Some countries allow their citizens to apply for an eTA to fly to Canada instead of a visa, provided they meet certain requirements.

eTA Features
- It is valid for up to 5 years or until your passport expires, whichever comes first. ๐
- Allows you to visit Canada multiple times, for a maximum of up to 6 months on each visit. ๐ซ
